Browse Forums Home Finance 1 Nov 05, 2015 7:14 pm Hi guys. Hubby and I both decided to refinance our home loan as we both wanted to get a better rate to save on interest. Luckily, we were able to get a very good deal with AMP. We were offered variable rate of 3.99% considering I just recently resigned from work and hubby is the only income earner for the time being. We both think it is a very good deal but I'm just wondering if any of you guys have refinanced with them. How was your experience? Thanks heaps! Re: Refinancing with AMP Experience?? 2Jul 10, 2016 11:03 am If its the ONLY lender that will help in your situation, accept it. If there are other OPTIONS with other lenders, STONGLY CONSIDER THEM. AMP is a stable Oz finance company BUT they have traditionally not been known in the longer term as the best option for mortgages or cheapest rate. Remember the 3.99% is the RATE OF THE DAY, nowhere in the loan documentation does it say it will always be so. Dont get suckered in on an intro rate, or cheap initial rate or the weekly 'deal of the week' marketing used to grab applications. They won't be the 'deal of the week' forever! But if you have no other options (recent resignation etc) then there's nothing to discuss. Its AMP or nothing. I apologise for any confusion, but your understanding is correct.
