Browse Forums Home Finance 1 Jul 22, 2014 5:48 pm Hi, just a quick question before I apply. My husband put a deposit on land in 1971 with his previous wife. They never paid the land off and later divorced in 1974, so it was sold. Does this disqualify us from applying? I have never owned a house or land but I don't want to do the wrong thing. I think this date was about 2003 or something but don't quote me Re: FHOG enquiry 3Jul 23, 2014 2:12 am From memory owning vacant land previously is okay as it doesn't constitute "residential property". However your best bet is to call your State Revenue Office and ask them. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Cheers Tom Re: FHOG enquiry 4Jul 24, 2014 4:16 pm Hi Author, Considering the purchase was for vacant land and not for a house this should not disqualify your eligibility. Its always best to contact the office of state revenue to confirm and discuss the exact circumstances. Re: FHOG enquiry 5Jul 24, 2014 4:39 pm As others have pointed out; the FHOG is governed by state laws therefore it is best to contact the State Revenue Office (or equivalent) in your particular state to enquire. Your other option is to let us on the forum know where you live. Where I live in Victoria having owned vacant land, which you did not build on, does not disqualify you from applying from the grant (as you can only get the grant for a "home" as the name indicates). Good luck Re: FHOG enquiry 6Sep 14, 2014 7:17 pm Thanks, everyone. We are in NSW, grom40. Masterton Symphony MBTF Deposit Paid 7/7/14 |
