Browse Forums Home Finance 1 Aug 03, 2011 1:34 am Hello! I was exploring various options to get new home furnished. Since I'm a newbie in Aussieland, I'm exposed to only few furniture shops in Sydney. We are planning to get all new furnitures and appliances for the new home. I browsed Harvey Norman, Freedom, Sleepcity, IKEA & Fantastic furniture websites. I am quite impressed with Harvey Norman stuffs. Moreover, not to burden us with furniture shopping and the home mortgage, I understand these retailers provide FINANCE options. Interest free finance options. Sounds like a good option to me. First of all, how are the above mentioned shops, esp; Harvey Norman? Has anyone bought both furnitures and appliances on finance from any of these retailers? Please mention other shops where we can see for furnitures, not the really really expensive ones.. I happened to see beyond furniture or so and it seemed damn very costly to me. Found Fantastic furniture to be the most cheap amongst all..But not bad, I felt..However, I would not pick up everything from them, maybe a balmoral/bravo bedroom package for the 3rd bedroom, which will not be put to much use at the moment and tub chairs to every bedroom and maybe a longe for the family room(not the formal living room!)..Is this worth or should we go for any other shop in your opinion? Which is the best place for buying patio furniture? I didnt see much in any of these sites? Do you think they will have in store?? By furniture I mean- Living, Dining, Bedroom furnitures. Electrical and electronic appliances needed for a house. Awaiting your choices! It is great - BUT - make sure you do pay it off before the interest free period ends because the interest rate after this period jumps up to like 27% - I know of a few people who have been caught out this way! The only way to get around this is to work out the amount of your purchase and divide it by the amount of interest free months to get your payment right. You will be surprised of the difference. They get you in thinking that you have a "small" amount to pay each month so that you go past the interest free period. Re: HAS ANYONE BOUGHT FURNITURES ON FINANCE OPTION? 4Aug 03, 2011 1:06 pm sleven make sure you do pay it off before the interest free period ends because the interest rate after this period jumps up to like 27% Actually with most of them (e.g. GE Money), once the interest free period expires, the interest is calculated on the original purchase figure (not the amount left owing) and backdated to the date of purchase. Thanks a ton, Sleven... Yea, we will pay off the whole amount within the interest free period ends, and would definitely not wait untill we pay the 27% interest by any chance!!! Gosh, I cannot imagine me doing that + paying the Home loan and many many other things! haha.. There I come, Harvey Norman..I loved all furnitures they have!!Thanks, others! //Shilpa Hi, I'd like some advice on the best option please on the estimate options we've been provided from our builder.
