Browse Forums Home Finance 1 Jan 23, 2011 3:20 pm hi i have posted a few replies here but am essentially new and reading lots of good information so thank you i am buying a share home with an adult son and am looking at finance. i dont need a mortage but he does for his contribution. our usual banker ...st george....has approved in principle for what he needs but i have recently been looking around and looked at ME and then ING. i am put off the big 4 charges of $369 annual fee. ME and ING are not wanting that. however the ING person who called me back seems to have given me info that i dont see as being quite correct. a call to their centre today was met with much sort of *duhhhhh*. i will resolve it in the next few days i am told but it sort of made a negative impression on me even tho i read a lot of positives on the bank the ME guy sounded switched on and with it......as is the st george lender. ING appeals price wise offset is critical it will be a small loan in todays terms but taken out over a long period for the moment there are no issues with credit or no problems forseen with approval total internet banking is all fine .......with withdrawls where ever they need to be is also fine i have approached two Sydney brokers last year and they were useless. this is an easy loan . it is simply a matter of making it as optimal for my son as possible we both have banking with NAB and st george currently , thanks for any thoughts Re: anyone have any comments on ING for home loans 2Jan 23, 2011 5:36 pm My Daughter went with ING,best rate didn't need mortgage insurance. Re: anyone have any comments on ING for home loans 3Jan 23, 2011 8:16 pm thanks Pattycakes. did she have any delays in pre approval or final approval or handing over of money.?? i have had st george for my own mortages in the past and they were fine with detail. st george has a 6.50 summer sale rate which will be effective for a year. but back to variable after that. MEs rate is not that much lower currently. but ING is better so hence the interest in them Re: anyone have any comments on ING for home loans 4Jan 23, 2011 10:05 pm ditzydame however the ING person who called me back seems to have given me info that i dont see as being quite correct. a call to their centre today was met with much sort of *duhhhhh*. i will resolve it in the next few days i am told but it sort of made a negative impression on me even tho i read a lot of positives on the bank We had some difficultly with correct / clear information when organising a loan with them. That said, since having the loan, they have been reasonable, relatively easy to deal with, etc thus far, and their rates are competitive. So as long as you have clear information about the product you are being offered, I would recommend them. ditzydame did she have any delays in pre approval or final approval or handing over of money.?? In our case there were no delays with any of this, even though in between contract signature and settlement there was the Christmas and New Year period, they were very good with having everything ready when it needed to be. Re: anyone have any comments on ING for home loans 5Jan 23, 2011 11:53 pm thank you so much Interpid i know enough to have figured that the info was incorrect (unless i can be convinced otherwise which would be nice) but i suspect my son wouldnt have picked up on it. and it might have come to bite him i will have another yarn with them and maybe ask for someone who sounds a bit more confident than the person who i delt with. i just realized i should talk to my conveyancer as he might have some thoughts too am really enjoying this forum and now that i have hope a sale will go thro, i am happily reading and messing with my mind over paint colours and curtains........where once i would have just gone and done it with a lot less thought thanks again Re: anyone have any comments on ING for home loans 6Jan 24, 2011 12:02 pm no problems.I think it depends who you deal with my Daughter had ING email information to make sure what they told her was correct. Re: anyone have any comments on ING for home loans 7Jan 24, 2011 2:38 pm yes the email is a good idea i have spoken to them and sorted it out just a small issue but a potential problem and really it shouldnt have happened as it is a matter of what is the difference between one plan and another will sit and see if the sale proceeds i guess LOL thanks I am building Enfield 201 by Mimosa Homes - York Facade Link: https://www.mimosahomes.com.au/new-homes/enfield-201/ I did my colour appointment last week.
