Browse Forums Home Finance 1 Oct 01, 2010 3:25 pm Hi guys, Just after your advice. Under the HIA contract the builder can issue you with an invoice for works that are around 50% complete. Ok fine no issues there. The issue I have is that I have paid this, 1 month ago, and they still havent completed the works. Now I have been issued with the next invoice for the roofing, which again is probably more than 50% complete. Would you be happy to pay the next progress payment when the previous works are still not finished??? I am thinking of getting a bit narky about this but wanted to know your advice. thanks. If so, then those stages are as defined in the legislation in most states and my understanding is that the stage needs to be complete before you pay. I wouldn't be paying unless complete and would never ask a customer to pay unless the stage was complete. If your contract is not based on those fixed stages then you can part pay for part completion however you should never full pay for part completion! Builders are people too....
