Browse Forums Home Finance 1 Mar 18, 2010 8:46 am Yesterday, after much begging, our builder finally gave us our final progress payment invoice (Wednesday 17 March) We have faxed it to Commonwealth Bank early this morning (Thursday 18 March). Walk Through is this Friday 19 March. Handover is booked for next Friday 26 March. We've been told by our broker and the bank that in most cases you should allow 10 working days for the valuation to be done and the cheque to be written ready for handover. Well, because our builder took so long to organise the final invoice, even though handover and walk through had been booked, we will most likely not meet the deadline. Or will we? Has anyone been in a similar situation and been able to make that final progress payment with, most likely, six working days for valuation and paperwork? We are in SA, building in the Adelaide Hills, so 30kms from the CBD, which apparently means it takes longer to get a valuer out (?). (Please say yes!!! So many tradies are booked to come in after handover and finish off the house. And they need to be paid with surplus funds that will only be released after settlement. Plus we have booked our removalist for the Thursday before Easter) Re: Will we have our valuation/bank cheque by settlement? 3Mar 18, 2010 8:08 pm oh I feel for you Roar, we had a tight timeframe too, a lot of people do, some have to vacate rental places etc... it's a bit stressful to say the least. do you have a cert of occ? if so, and the bank received it today, then one would assume their valuer would be out there early next week, hopefully in time for friday. Def get on the phone and follow this up all the way... it's worth the hassle of hassling them...(sorry) if it's going to mean you don't have to rearrange so many other people if you go over friday... keep on'em - trust no one! good luck mate! A thankful person is a happy person. [/color]My hobby design blog: http://aviewondesign.blogspot.com/ How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 11979 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
