I went through them as it meant that I didn't need to pay the full 5% deposit up front for the building... unless you really want to take advantage of that I would NEVER NEVER NEVER use them! I agree 110% with Lisa. You can read my thread if you'd like to hear of my experience with them.. but honestly it's a waste of time. I honestly had to do ALL the work.. as they didn't have a freaking clue what they were doing. The initial person I dealt with was fantastic.. but after they take your deposit.. they send your file to head office.. and the person I dealt with there was a NIGHTMARE. Either deal directly with the bank or look for a different broker. Building with PD - Regent 23 Cascades on Clyde Estate HomeOne Building Thread - PCI Completed - 28th August. But the new one has been really good and know what customer service means... That is mostly true, BUT with choice, my gawd, their incompetence is beyond belief! Our broker was great and pushed things through for us as I was 8 mths PG at the time of applying for the loan. The customer service staff were also great and would notify me of updates every step of the way. Our broker was just nominated for a reward and I wrote a referral for her, as she was that good. So I guess it depends on who you get? Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: choice home loans 7Sep 25, 2009 9:01 am We also had a bad expeirence with them. They always misplaced our information and we would have to re-fax it. The first person we delt with was great. The office people don't seem to know what they are doing sometimes. We were told that the faxes they receive come out on one continuos roll, so when someone goes to retrive a fax they take a whole lot, take what they need and no one seems to know where the other faxes belong. We thought that was unbeilveable that they did not know who had to receive the other faxes as our faxes always had a cover so they knew who had to receive it. If other people have had a good experience with them, perhaps you can request for one of them to look after your file? Good Luck with your decision, and your build. Re: choice home loans 8Sep 29, 2009 10:29 pm draco76 went to the Porter Davis first home buyer and Choice Home Loans actually had a presentation... are they any good? anyone used them? how's your experience with them? thanks We used them, half way through building now.... Choice were really good. I would use them again if I ever needed to. Re: choice home loans 9Sep 30, 2009 6:30 pm When dealing with a broker or bank it all comes down to the attitude and how experienced the person you are dealing with is. There are good and bad brokers for every company. I'm a mortgage broker and although I'm not with Choice I do know some of their staff and I don't think they are that bad. Re: choice home loans 10Sep 30, 2009 6:51 pm I guess it does depend on who you get, like with a lot of the building company head office staff. We had two head office people taking care of our file (the initial lady left about 2 months after we signed up) and both were fantastic, went over and above what we expected them to do. Re: choice home loans 11Jul 25, 2011 3:18 pm Just wanted to add my thoughts about Choice.. We were getting our home loan organized via them and it turned out to be a very bad decision. From day one, I had to contact their admin every day to check for updates rather than the other way round. If you just wait for them to come back with a reply, be prepared to wait for lengthy periods (max was 2 weeks in our case) for something which other brokers/banks might tell you straight away.. The days kept on adding and we had enough of them after dealing with them for a couple of months. As we were approaching our settlement date, the stress kept on building and we couldn't wait anymore.. so we applied straight with the bank and got our loan sorted in days !! With the bank, we didn't have to travel to their office to sign docs & everything was just sorted over the phone. But in case of Choice we had to take time off work to meet their representative to get things sorted. We learnt it the hard way.. but choosing the right broker/bank will save you a lot of frustration and stress. Re: choice home loans 12Jul 28, 2011 2:41 pm I have seen this argument many many times before about who is better brokers or banks direct and IMO it comes down to the people you deal with not the institution. Your own situation also has an impact ie you want a 95% loan with a patchy savings history etc. These things will affect how smooth the process is regardless of who is handling your file but this is where a good operator makes the difference.
