I keep telling myself that one day I'm going to save up for everything I buy (apart from the house, of course), instead of getting everything on credit! I can dream I suppose. Have you thought about talking to a financial adviser or something about the shares though, I wouldn't know about the Westpac shares, but from what I've seen on TV the share market has taken a bit of a battering lately. . . they may be worth a lot more in a few years time? Re: Loan application rejected! :-( Please advise 43Jun 17, 2009 1:37 pm Oh yes! They do get a bit like a bull in a china shop sometimes don't they. . . My other half had been told that he should pay off his home loan as quick as he could. . . I tried telling him that he was better off paying of the loan that was at 15% interest before paying off the mortgage (which was at about 8% at the time), but he wouldn't listen. . . I had to create a spreadsheet with interest calculated daily to show him how much money he was losing in extra interest before he'd listen. . . . ahhhh. . . men. Re: Loan application rejected! :-( Please advise 44Jun 17, 2009 4:50 pm lol@creating a spreadsheet. My husband creates one everytime I buy something on ebay and shows me the whole home budget and why i need to stay away from ebay! lol...it does work (for a while)! Re: Loan application rejected! :-( Please advise 45Jun 17, 2009 4:59 pm stay away from Ebay Moodyfish! You just have to think of it this way . . . if your car loan is at 20% APR and you're buying things instead of paying off the car loan, then effectively, everything you buy on Ebay is costing you 20% more, for every year you have the car loan! BAD EBAY!!!! hahaha I know this, but it still didn't stop me buying a heated cat bed from the Reject Shop for $40 this morning! Poor pussycat gets soooo cold! Re: Loan application rejected! :-( Please advise 46Jun 17, 2009 5:54 pm My hubby doesn't mind me buying things on eBay, within reason. For example I wanted to update our furniture so I bought 5 pieces on eBay from someone who was separating and moving house. It was all in great cond and originally came from Oz design. We went in there afterwards and priced it all and it would have cost $7000+ but I got it all for $2000 Yes there are a few scratches and some wear and tear but after a few weeks in our house with our 2 year old running riot and it would look in the same condition anyway lol. So, my point is that eBay can be a great resource for buying cheaper or secondhand goods especially for the home. Re: Loan application rejected! :-( Please advise 47Jun 17, 2009 6:01 pm Hahaha! Famous last words Moodyfish! Yeah, I suppose it's the same with everything really, if you need something and can get it at bargain prices, GREAT! (just like I needed a bit of warmth for the cat). Actually, we've been trying to save for quite some time now. . . I get excited when I get to go grocery shopping! I don't think I'll be able to contain myself next time I can actually go out and buy some CLOTHES! Yes and no, actually he got $1800 as the extra $200 was our cost to hire a moving van with hydraulic lift to pick it all up in, as it's all made from solid Tassie oak He did have a BIN price of $3500 which is half of what he had paid new so I expect he wasn't overly thrilled with $1800 but I was Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: Loan application rejected! :-( Please advise 50Jun 17, 2009 11:30 pm Errrrm... i never buy anything over $35....and it's always something I can use. It's mostly books. Love to read! I'm not bad at all as far as ebay is concerned. The most expensive thing I bought was a spotless, scratchless, dining table with 6 chairs! bought it 4 years back and it's still going strong... even though my daughter more or less eats off the table rather than her plate! I think what my husband fears is the ebay avalanche that might follow after a couple of purchases! Re: Loan application approved! :-) 52Jun 25, 2009 8:24 am Moodyfish Heard from CBA on Monday. Hi Kev,definitely going with Matt from Gold ruby...will be going to him for the 7th time (and hopefully last time as far as house floor plans are concerned) and finalise our plans.. Re: Loan application approved! :-) 60Jul 06, 2009 12:26 pm Cool... we're expecting to get our unconditional approval by the end of the week, it's been 8 weeks today waiting for an answer from the bank! Will then be able to talk to Matt with some money behind us.
