And for the record...I voted for 0.75% too. Although I won't care too much until my buider finally starts building our new home and I get a mortgage again! commercial mortgage rates, warehouse loan 22Jan 20, 2009 12:13 am Bam Whats the variable rate going at at the moment?? My mother in law is adamant that the warehouse loan is fixed at 10%, refinanced only a few months ago. I find it hard to believe but she cant find any statements That rate is too high. It sounds like you can save a bit on your commercial mortgage. I just checked for you and depending on your borrowing ratio, commercial mortgage rates are between 7.8% and 8.3%. You may be on a fixed rate, though, if so break costs would apply. The poll looks like the majority is for a big rate cut again. Re: Is RBA going to cut rates again in February? 23Jan 21, 2009 9:54 am The market is predicting a .75% or 1% drop so fingers crossed guys! The banks cost of funds dropped over Christmas / NY as well but they haven't passed that on either! With any luck one of them will pass on the full amount and force the rest to follow. Re: Is RBA going to cut rates again in February? 24Jan 21, 2009 12:13 pm Ok, just put my vote in for 1%; just heard on the news BHP and DJ's both shedding large number of employees, Domayne closing a store in Campbelltown, inflation dropping quickly (finally), etc.
Yep, quite optimistic re a large rate cut but sadly for all the wrong reasons! 'We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.' - Winston Churchill an interest rate cut for home loans in February? 25Jan 21, 2009 12:37 pm So far 60% of members feel it's a 0.75% cut or more. Re: Is RBA going to cut rates again in February? 27Jan 21, 2009 3:54 pm mrs_smith I voted 0.5%. Not because the RBA will give 0.5%, I think they'll give 0.75%, but I think the banks will give us 0.5% In which case you should have voted 0.75% for the poll. Re: Is RBA going to cut rates again in February? 34Jan 26, 2009 2:42 pm as long as it drops we are on a winner as we won't have to touch any bank money until close to our house finishing and then we might be refinancing.
so fingers crossed from me too. Re: Is RBA going to cut rates again in February? 36Jan 26, 2009 5:34 pm You realise the RBA is monitoring this topic and will apply whatever rate has the highest poll.
The RBA used to have sophisticated modeling, but in the end decided the wisdom of Homeone forum members is better than any modeling. Doesn't matter how low your interest rate is if you lose your job etc..... Already some banks have shown they are being ultra-conservative with valuations. I would rather have our interest rate at 8% and have a booming, steady economy.
