Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jul 16, 2019 12:07 pm Hi all, We need a couple of LED floodlights that will be attached to a sensor to light up our backyard for a combination of security and task lighting. We've narrowed it down to two similarly specc'ed options (below), and I was hoping somebody might be able to suggest which brand would be better quality so that we don't have to replace the lights again for a long time. We are after 30W and a 3000K colour, which has ruled out a lot of other options. Verbatim LED Floodlight https://thelightguys.com.au/collections/floodlights-small-to-medium-coverage/products/verbatim-led-floodlight-30w-240v-3000k-6500k OSRAM/ Ledvance LED floodlight https://thelightguys.com.au/collections/floodlights-small-to-medium-coverage/products/osram-ledvance-led-floodlight-50w-220-240v-ip65-ik07?variant=6485863333931 Thanks! Re: LED floodlight - which would be better quality? 2Jul 16, 2019 1:38 pm If you bought a couple of smart par38 globes you could control the temperature, colour, dim, motion sensor even inbuilt camera all controlled on phone/tablet. Sengled through Bunnings a great example. Re: LED floodlight - which would be better quality? 3Jul 16, 2019 2:31 pm Thanks for your reply. That's certainly pretty cool! I don't think it's quite right for our needs though - we have a couple par38 fittings there already but that's actually what we want to replace as they've just given us constant problems. The idea is to replace it once with some high quality floodlights and hopefully not have to keep getting the electrician out to replace stuff. Re: LED floodlight - which would be better quality? 5Jul 16, 2019 3:21 pm We have purchased some floodlights recently from Mica Lighting in Melbourne. The 'Neo' flood lights we have bought with a separate motion sensor, but they're going on a future shed so not installed as yet. Anyhow these guys seem to be ok to deal with. https://www.micalighting.com.au/lighting/outdoor-lights/flood-lights/neo-50w-led-flood-light-240v.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- Check our Homeone build blog here Re: LED floodlight - which would be better quality? 6Jul 16, 2019 3:39 pm gillybean If you bought a couple of smart par38 globes you could control the temperature, colour, dim, motion sensor even inbuilt camera all controlled on phone/tablet. Thanks heaps! gillybean, I have just noticed in an amazon.com.au mail out that these are now available in Australia. Not cheap though at $270, so I would be waiting for an amazon sale. Re: LED floodlight - which would be better quality? 9Oct 03, 2019 9:15 am Just updating this for the benefit of anybody researching in the future. We ended up getting two 30W Verbatim floodlights and they have been perfect. They light up the yard and surrounding bush really nicely without being too over the top. It's a really nice even spread of light and we're glad we got the 3000k instead of 4000k colour. The end result is head and shoulder above the old PAR38 floodlights from Bunnings that we had there originally. We got the new ones from "The Light Guys" and the service and price were both excellent. https://thelightguys.com.au/collections ... 000k-6500k Re: LED floodlight - which would be better quality? 10Apr 17, 2020 3:30 am Do consider beam angle and IP ratings of the floodlights you are going to buy. brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7797 Bigger the better for storage for me IMO. But I guess it's harder to tell the cost/benefit in your example - mainly the 'cost'? If you go 700mm, what are you doing extra… 2 2705 4 1705 |
