I run a business from our study in the current house, we have two desks and a credenza that I use as a work bench. In the new house, we will have a study of approx 4.3m by 3.5m with 2.7 ceilings, with a work top height of 750mm. I am considering having downlights over the desk areas as the light would be more focused. Currently, if I work at night I sit in my own shadow as the desk is against a wall. So, does anyone have downlights for task lighting in the study? If so, are you using 1 per desk area and what size/W are you using? Do you have a "standard central ceiling light" as well? Does it work well for you or would you change it for something else? I am thinking of getting a "bar type" of central light with say 4 spots on it, so that the light can be directed to the fax machine, printer, bookcases etc. in conjunction with the downlights. Otherwise we are considering a round fluro for the centre of the ceiling which is what we have now. All ideas/thoughts on this welcome. The desk is just under 2 meters. We are also getting the other side of the study fitted out and I have put in two downlights (cabinet makers reccomendation) over my desk which is only 1 meter wide. I would not go with any less. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Task Lighting in Study 6Sep 19, 2008 8:01 pm Sallyho what does that mean?????
We have a 6 x 6 study. yes 6m by 6 m so we've gone with 2 lights. They are batten lights for the moment but will likely be replaced with oysters or one oyster and one set of spotlights after handover. I guess if we need more we'll add downlights later.
