Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jun 16, 2018 11:12 am Hi Team We are about to lay the slab for our fabulous new home! I am trying to be organised and gathering all the things we are supplying. I have ordered the lights to hang over our island which is apparently 2800 in length, but im worried they are too small 26cm diameter x 36 high. in most of the house we have 2700 ceilings and in the living space we have a pitched ceiling. I have attached photos of the lights, floorplan and a house we walked through last week that is a smaller version of ours (almost) What do you all think???? Thanks so much for your help Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Lighting HELP 2Jun 16, 2018 11:32 am Firstly, gorgeous house! I hear you with the dilemma about pendant light size. Lovely lights. Will you also be having pendants in the living dining areas? If so I would stay at the size that you have chosen as with the beams and feature lights there, if you went with larger lights in the kitchen there may be a bit too much going on. Re: Lighting HELP 3Jun 16, 2018 12:16 pm hi kjane! Thank you so much for your reply and compliment! I love my house...cant wait for it to be finished!!!!! We are not having the beams unfortunatley - husband thinks they will just be a dust collector so its just a full open pitched ceiling, we do have 2 large skylights in the living dining space, and downlights throughout. i decided against having feature lights coming from the pitched ceiling only because i am one to change furniture around...a lot, so i cant commit to a dessignated dining/lounge space. Im terrible!!! With that added information, do you still think they are large enough? its so difficult to visualise without being in the space Thanks again for your time replying!!! Re: Lighting HELP 4Jun 16, 2018 4:56 pm I don't think they would look too small or out of place but you could also go larger and it would look good. Have you tried getting a copy of the side elevation of your kitchen that shows both the island and the rear cabinets and drawing the pendants on it to scale. Draw them on at the height you would hang them too. May help you visualise them in the space.
