The pros & cons: - white ones will always discolour with extended use. with good quality downlights, this will be prolonged, as the powder coating will be of a superior grade as opposed to the cheaper ones. - the brushed aluminium ones are the most popular at the moment. - the square ones must be installed by an electrician "that cares" In short, don't cut corners by buying cheap quality fittings, and employing an electrician thats a cowboy. If you avoid these 2 points, you should be able to install any fitting you like, and it will look fantastic! Hope this helps.
