Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 May 09, 2017 1:11 pm What does one do if a problem ceiling fan/light was purchased online from a company based in another state ? I've got a good price from just such a supplier, but am holding back from ordering because I'm concerned I'll have problems down the track with repairs ie getting the fan back to him, etc... Am I over-reacting ? Should I just pay extra and purchase from a local supplier with a shopfront ? Consumer laws in Australia are country-wide, so apply equally no matter where you live, and generally the warranty is provided from the manufacturer, not the reseller. After the initial purchase is concluded, if you had to send back a warranty item it would be to the manufacturer. Only reason to send something back to the reseller is if it arrived damaged. If that concerns you, see if you can make a deal with them to cover a return in that circumstance (not a change of mind). Also, if you can pay through PayPal, they offer to cover the cost of up to eight returns a year if you have registered for that service. We live regionally, and nearly every PC item for our build has come from outside of our town, and we have had no trouble with quality nor returns.
