We are renovating our house and the first job is the lighting I am not a fan of downlights (mainly due to the wiring rule changes). I am wondering if anyone has put those halogen spotlight in the bedroom. The ones on the bar. I was also thinking of something similar to the two below Just trying to get ideas for the bedrooms. so... what type have lights have you got in the bedroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: what sort of lights do you have in your bedroom? 2Jul 05, 2008 11:51 pm Nice lights but I'm not sure about their application in a bedroom.
We've got downlights ..... and floor lamps for mood lighting. Bedroom Lighting 4Jul 06, 2008 8:42 am Hi there Mel,
Any lighting comes down to 2 points: 1- The mood you want to set, and 2- Cosmetic appearance. I wouldn't be too fussed about the new wiring regs about downlights, as there are a few options that can be adopted to comply with the new regs. 1- A heat can can be placed over the back of the downlight, or 2- You can choose a compact fluorescent downlight. Ultimately, the decision is yours, but don't be steered away from downlights for the wrong reasons! Hope this helps. Re: what sort of lights do you have in your bedroom? 5Jul 06, 2008 9:17 am Hi Mel,
I am looking at a chandelier for our bedroom - have found it, just have to convince DH that it will look good The second photo looks like it belongs in a study, the first will work if it ties in with your furniture and the style of your bedroom. Paula Re: what sort of lights do you have in your bedroom? 6Jul 06, 2008 10:06 am Hi all,
Thanks for the replies I am still not a fan of downlights. I just want something a little different. But with the layout of the bedroom, i think it might be the best option. Paula, a chandelier sounds fantastic. Pity it wouldn't suit my bedroom. Re: what sort of lights do you have in your bedroom? 7Jul 06, 2008 7:49 pm you could try drum lights .. they can look very effective in a bedroom. Re: what sort of lights do you have in your bedroom? 8Jul 06, 2008 8:04 pm I'm also looking at getting a chandelier for the bedroom (much to husband's disgust!!). I'll have one in the dining above the table, and would dearly love one in the bedroom too. It's a nice warm sort of light, not harsh, and creates a relaxing mood...which I want for the bedroom! Also have bedside lamps for reading too.
I will wait until the house is built and all the furniture is in before I finalise my decision! Paula, what sort of chandelier are you looking at? Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Its very modern, cant explain it - its at freedom and beacon lighting - will try to find a pic. Hey Paula, if i remember correctly, this is what both you and i are after for our Master bedrooms.... http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee299/matthewnathan/christochandelier.jpg I've been looking at Beacon lighting and they range from $495-$1495 in 3 diff sizes. I was looking at the middle size for our bedroom which is 45cm dia. That one in Beacon was $1049 if i remember correctly, but the same light is in Freedom for $499.....for the 45cm dia version. BUT!!!!! I'm getting one for $349....if you are interested please PM me and i'll give you the information, but you will have to be quick, there is only very few available. They are running low in stock and some stores no longer have any and are at present discontinued, but still at $499 at most Freedom stores. So i thought that $349 was a a pretty good price.... The lamps compliment it as well. I hope mine doesn't clash with my curtains - they were supposed to have brown tones, but ended up a bit more gold than I'd like We have silver handles and lights on the bedroom furniture, so hopefully it will be OK. Paula i'm sure it will look stunning....do what i did...i made DH stand on the bed or wherever the light is going. Stand back and see how it looks and even take some pics so that you can look back on them.... LOL, we did that with the other chandelier and light fittings too. I like to visualise and be 100% sure before we install them.... My colour scheme atm is black and white with hints of grey/silver....but before it was latte and chocolate brown (in previous pics)...sometimes cream or olive/brown.....and it should go with all of them...I'm sure yours will be the same.... Maybe even think of some accessories for the bedside tables that will pick up subtley on the silver/chrome perhaps?.... Make sure you show us pics.... Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
