At least Osram is a very well known high quality manufacturer. You get a decent warranty and you can be sure that the company will still be around to honour the warranty in 2, 3 or 5 years time. The fly-by-night importers who bring in container loads of low end stuff from China could be closed tomorrow. There was an issue last year with electrical cable. Cheap Chinese stuff that was found to be dangerous. Importer closed up shop leaving consumers and retailers to pick up the tab to rip it all out of homes and replace with quality cable. Buyer beware Re: Help with down light plan 23May 20, 2015 1:53 pm Hi everyone, now looking at the 16.5w and 8.5w for entry, master, bathrooms, theater as they are small rooms. Please see specifications and my amended lighting plan with a mix of the two. Can you guys let me know what you think? Might I suggest another downlight near your pantry? In your cinema room, I would probably install the downlights in the lower bulkhead closer to the walls - and perhaps put them on a dimmer switch. You'll probably end up putting up wall hangings so if the downlights are close to the walls you can tilt them towards the hangings. Id be interested to see what you went with. I'm doing a last minute decision on white or brushed chrome finish LED dowlights. White to blend in and allow kitchen pendants to be the feature, or chroem which i think does look a little more high end...decisions decisions.... We are also doing starlights above our vanities. 3W LEDs with two 12W downlights and starlights on a separate switch. I was concerned with 2.7m high ceilings they wouldn't provide enough light but have been in discussions with lighting shops who have said they will, and they will help fill any shadow in front of your face cause by the downlights being slightly above and behind when you're standing at the vanity...Guess the proof is in the pudding...We're also running them along our bulkhead close to the wall in the theatre primarly to provide an arched effect on the wall as a feature and to have a little bit of light above and behind our heads on the couch. Probably just going to use 1W lights here. Re: Help with down light plan 27Jul 14, 2015 8:06 pm Hey Beazley! We have the light fittings already (brought them online) but our house is not at handover yet so the lights aren't installed. We went with white rimmed brightbreen D900's throughout. I loveeeee the star lights and wish we got them but might be a add on later idea once we have covered all the other stuff we need to finish first. Our kitchen pendants are white too and I think white is a bit more blending with the ceilings and not standing out. I also think white fascia goes better with the soft textured neutrals which is the style we are going. I could imagine that silver would suit more of an industrial styled home. I think you're right about having the light as close to the mirror as possible and even slightly angled into/towards the mirror so light is reflected onto your face rather than straight down to the floor. Star lights should have good effect and if you have spoken to lighting stores/professionals then I'd say it will work out well My thread - viewtopic.php?t=77170 Re: Help with down light plan 28Aug 06, 2015 3:03 am Our Honeywood Build Hey Beazley!
