Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Oct 22, 2014 10:32 pm Hi all, Can anyone recommend well priced electricians (in Sydney) to install down lights AFTER handover? I will be getting the builder to wire all the difficult bits during construction and the down lights will be finished with empty light point battens. The quote for doing ALL the wiring AND down lights with the builder's electrician sounds STEEP to me! $110 per LED downlight (90mm diameter) supply and install, PLUS another $60 just for the extra light provisions rather than 1 in centre of room! Does that sound steep to anyone else? Cheers Re: LED down lights & recommended electricians - Sydney 2Nov 19, 2014 12:05 pm Hi CKL, I'm recently building a new house. price what you have quoted from your builder is fair. My builder quoted me the same for 9Watts LED lights. But I've upgraded it to HPM 11 & 15Watts dimmable down-lights for 170$ each. Re: LED down lights & recommended electricians - Sydney 3Nov 19, 2014 2:30 pm Seems a bit more than ours. Our lights were: $75 per each lightpoint (i think this is just a wiring thing) $23 per light for install/plug and we got the 13w eglo ones for $31 each Re: LED down lights & recommended electricians - Sydney 4Nov 23, 2014 12:07 am I'm Sydney based too. I managed to deal direct with the electricians who charged me $25 per light to install my supplied lights, and $60 per additional light point. I supplied the lights which were bunnings GU10 downlights (90mm cutout) and on special. I intend to upgrade the lights in future Re: LED down lights & recommended electricians - Sydney 5Nov 29, 2014 11:22 pm Thanks for the advice guys. In the end what we did was to get the builder's electrician to put in all the light points that were included, downstairs and for upstairs only 1 light per room e.g. in the corner of each room. Then I'm getting our own electrician to install the remaining light points upstairs as there is good roof cavity upstairs. Re: LED down lights & recommended electricians - Sydney 6Sep 22, 2015 11:26 pm Our builder electrican is charging us $130 per LED light fully installed. We plan to install around 80 lights so it's quite pricey! I should of became an electrican!
