Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Sep 30, 2014 12:55 pm Hi Our kitchen island bench will be quite long - 4.75 meters. I have just ordered 3 of these pendant lights, but I am now having doubts that they might be too big. The diameter of each light is 550mm. I knew we needed large lights due to the size of the bench, but I am now second guessing my choice, although I do love the lights. Thanks Lyn Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 2Sep 30, 2014 1:10 pm How wide is it LL. Doesn't sound too big - but I'm not always the one who decides on such things Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 3Sep 30, 2014 4:06 pm Hi Saint Mike. They are 550mm wide. So about a touch over 1/2 meter each. Sorry not sure what you mean by LL. Thanks Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 4Oct 02, 2014 9:08 am LL = your name - shortened ... By wide - I meant the bench Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 5Oct 02, 2014 8:08 pm Ha ha, now I feel a bit silly! The bench is 900mm wide. Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 6Oct 03, 2014 9:17 am I reckon they'd be OK - but as I said - LL - I'm rarely allowed to make such decisions ... Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 7Oct 03, 2014 9:25 am I think thy'd look fine - oversize is 'in' anyway Better than looking too small too! Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 8Oct 06, 2014 11:51 am The lengths I have gone to, to answer similar questions! I had my husband put up a picture of my preferred light on the TV and zoom in until we got it almost life-size. Then I got out the measuring tape to mark out my bench, to see the two together (well, sort of)! My conclusion for my 3mx1.1 metre bench is that 2 x 45cm pendants is OK. Quite large and chunky. Given your bench width, your selection could be a little large. If you can change, I'd go for the same lights 400mm diameter (I know Beacon has them). They are a beautiful pendant! If you can't change, stick them up and if they look wrong later, maybe you'll have another spot for them. (BTW, I'm not at all qualified to answer! I've just spent a lot of time thinking about the scale/shape of pendants.) http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 9Oct 06, 2014 12:37 pm Hi LynnieLou! I love those pendants - we are building and are using three of the exact same ones but in the 270mm size! Your bench is much longer than ours but due to width I would suggest the 400mm size would look the best! I know Beacon would swap with no problems if you needed to. Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 10Oct 08, 2014 12:25 pm Thanks everyone I think I might go down a size. Re: Do you think these pendant lights are going to be too bi 11Oct 09, 2014 2:05 pm Yes, i would say that is too big for a breakfast bench. You need to go for soemthing around the 250mm to a maximum of 400mm for above a breakfast bench. The TOMDIX Copper Shade, or BEAT Shades are extremely popular.
