Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Sep 01, 2014 2:32 pm Does anyone have any tips for buying LED bulbs to replace halogens? I would particularly like recommendations for suppliers, either in Sydney or online. I am looking for something suitable for a light fitting like this: http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/vue-sp ... me-12.html Thanks for your help. Re: Recommendations for GU10 LED light bulbs for track light 2Sep 01, 2014 2:46 pm I used 11W LED's in a very similar light fitting and they didn't last 4 weeks. I think it was because there was too much heat build up. Now using 15W compact CFL's much the same as in the pic and they are lasting ( touch wood) over a year. Re: Recommendations for GU10 LED light bulbs for track light 3Sep 04, 2014 11:02 am Hi, There are many options these days, all with their own Pro's and Con's. A value for money product is a GU10 version. These basically don't need a driver, and work directly off 240V and are available in dimmable and non-dimmable. They range from 9W to 11W depending on the lighting output you require. Please let us know how you go, and feel free to ask any more questions Kind Regards, Kristin Lighting Expert Phone -1300 798 220 Email - service@golights.com.au Website - http://www.golights.com.au Re: Recommendations for GU10 LED light bulbs for track light 4Sep 12, 2014 10:15 am Thanks for your replies. GoLights: * you said "There are many options these days, all with their own Pro's and Con's." What are the pros and cons of the different GU10 bulbs that you sell which provide at least as much light as a 50W halogen? * Althom found that his LED GU10 bulbs did not last 4 weeks. GoLights, how long should your products last? What sort of warranty do you provide? Can any other users recommend (or recommend against) any suppliers for GU10 LED bulbs? Re: Recommendations for GU10 LED light bulbs for track light 5Sep 12, 2014 9:51 pm What kills LEDs fast is heat; make sure whatever you get has good ventilation. I've used Philips and Osram for over 2 years now, and so far none have died. Their colour temperature is also good. I've only been using under 10W though.
