Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jul 06, 2014 8:36 pm I'm looking for a couple of pendant lights and the style that I like seems to be described as "transitional" - it's not replica, not contemporary, not modern, not traditional. I guess it is "modern traditional" - modern lighting with period features. When looking for cabinet hardware for our renovation I found the lack of range in this style in Australia very frustrating and ended up buying online in the States instead. Obviously with lighting, I don't have that choice. The lighting designs I have seen that I like are mostly Feiss, Dolan, other contemporary American designers. The markup on these designers in Australia is nothing short of daylight robbery, so am wondering if there's anything local that I'm missing? Looking for frosted glass and weathered bronze or nickel hardware, curved lines but not too ornate. Anybody know the implications of having them installed here though? My understanding is that Australian sparkies are often pretty loathe to install anything that doesn't have Australian Standards marked on it. Re: "Transitional" style lighting in Australia - where?? 6Jul 20, 2014 2:22 am Have you tried Schots emporium in Victoria. They have a great range. I'm also wondering if sparkies can install a 220v light imported from US? We were originally looking at a light similar to one you have in your pictures for our lounge room. these are 2 we had considered.
