Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jan 12, 2014 11:32 am Hi Everyone, I recently installed LEDs in my house, everywhere that has non-dimmable LED - works perfectly however I have 4 Philips MR16 LEDS Dimmable (the 2013 model - 7w 3000k) in the bedroom that doesn't work. I have dimmable drivers installed for all 4 LEDS. The light switch configuration set up is 2 LED per switch, There is also a Master switch with High-Off-Low that can control all 4 LEDs and of course the dimmer controller. So the problem I'm having is when I switch it on, the LEDs flashes on for a second and then remains off. I've even replaced the clipsal dimmer from Trailing Edge Lighting Dimmer to clipsal universal dimmer Clipsal. Looking for help as to what's wrong with this set up? Previously when it was all Halogen globes/drivers, there was no issues. Thanks in advance Re: Help - Dimmable LED downlight Set Up Not Working 2Jan 12, 2014 9:00 pm Sounds like your globes may not be compatible. Please check that the globes are in fact dimmable. If they are, they may have been damaged by the previous dimmer. Very hard to guess, but from my experience, that's what it sounds like. Hope this helps Kind Regards, Kristin Lighting Expert Phone -1300 798 220 Email - service@golights.com.au Website - http://www.golights.com.au Re: Help - Dimmable LED downlight Set Up Not Working 3Jan 13, 2014 10:06 am Hi Andrew, Thanks for your response, I've plugged the LED to a non-dimmable driver installation point and it works normally, so the LED hasn't been damaged. The LEDs are definitely dimmable model. Re: Help - Dimmable LED downlight Set Up Not Working 4Jan 14, 2014 10:12 am hmmm, if you are certain that the globes are dimmable, then it is a strange case, and without seeing the installation, its hard to guess. My gut still says its the globe or driver. You may need to contact Phillips, and let them know that this is happening. They may ask you for the driver brand and type (constant voltage or constant current) and will tell you if the globe you're using is compatible. I think this is the best course of action. Good luck with it all, and if we can help further, please don't hesitate to ask. The company I work for distributes Philips globes, so I can get the rep to find out for you. Sounds like they are the non dimmable the way they are behaving, but the model number on the lamp will determine that. Just happened to be exploring the site so hope I can help JT Re: Help - Dimmable LED downlight Set Up Not Working 6Mar 16, 2014 4:23 pm I'd suggest changing the Universal Dimmer to a TRAILING EDGE dimmer. This may solve your issue. Hope you've found the problem, and sorted it out. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 7531 Okay sorry silly me, my wife has solves the mystery for me.
