Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Dec 02, 2013 11:30 pm Hey guys just wanted to know has anyone got the strip lighting that is connected with the separate light switch done on their build? I have been looking at a number of videos that show how you can install the strip lighting yourself I was just curious has anyone had it installed with a separate switch ( not via the power point ) Re: Strip lighting 2Dec 03, 2013 2:26 pm Hi blackenator, just to clarify: Do you mean you would like to connect the LED light strip to a wall switch, similar to a ceiling light? Re: Strip lighting 7Jan 08, 2014 7:46 pm Yes it can be done. The driver which would come with the LED strip can either be hard wired to the load end of the switch, or the load cable can have a Surface Socket power point attached to it, and the driver can be plugged in using a flex and plug. This will allow that cable to be isolated form the switch. I hope this has helped. We have a driver that will be plugged into a powerpoint in the cupboard/vanity. This powerpoint is switched to the main light switch so we can turn the strip lights on and off with the main light switch and not at the powerpoint itself. The load cable is the cable running from the Light switch to the power point. The LED driver is plugged into the power point, and therefore perfectly fine to do.
