Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Sep 12, 2013 12:06 pm Hi All, After some advice on the costs of downlights. Our builder has quoted us just under $250 per LED downlight. I'm concerned that this is above normal but don't have much to compare it against. Could you help out with some comparison costs? At the end of the day, I need to make a choice between LED or a cheaper option with the Builder, or just go standard with the builder and have an electrician install the rest (obviously moving the baton lights to the locations of the LED for ease). Thanks guys, Cat Our Family Home Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69221 Our Investment Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69588 Re: Downlight costs 2Sep 12, 2013 12:12 pm Cost of LED downlight itself ranges from about $50 upwards (assuming not buying overseas etc. ) The rest is install charges. $250 per LED downlight seems very high though. Re: Downlight costs 3Sep 12, 2013 12:35 pm 250 dollars is pretty high, i got quoted 180 dollars from my builder. but most people only take the batten light from builder then get an electrician to install the downlights after handover, it turns out to be cheaper that way Re: Downlight costs 4Sep 12, 2013 12:39 pm Anybody have costs for an electrican to do this work? I'm a sparkle. I can install 16 in a day on my own. That would equate to $4000!!!!! All installs are different, but I would be looking at getting a sparkle in after handover. Re: Downlight costs 6Sep 12, 2013 4:13 pm Cost of LED DL and installation was $85 per light. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Downlight costs 8Sep 12, 2013 4:47 pm Wiring, bracket, switch and surface socket was $40. LED DL (with plug end pre-wired) was $45. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Downlight costs 9Sep 12, 2013 6:22 pm Thanks everyone. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13104 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering.
