Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Aug 04, 2013 9:35 pm Less than 24 months ago we moved into our new house. In the kitchen we used white LED strip lighting below the overhead cupboard. A strip 3.3metres long. There are 50 led's per metre. Looks great reflecting down on glass splashback. BUT there are now 9 globes out and counting, giving noticeable gaps. I know LED's will last longer than other lights, but they will fail. and when you have so many the chance of a few out increases. There does not appear to be any way of replacing individual globes, or am I wrong? If not then this means that this form of lighting will actually cost more to maintain over the years than standard bulbs, if I do not accept a few out Slab poured 21/04/2011 Frame finished 27/05/2011 Moved in 07/11/2011 Re: LED Strip Lighting failing 2Aug 06, 2013 10:12 am Strip lighting is a real tough thing to navigate. There are so many chip options and wiring options that make it hard to recommend anything specific. The goods news is its pretty cheap to replace and is usually 12/24v so can by done by anyone . The advance in 24 months should be pretty substantial, your 3m shouldnt cost much to fix. I am not saying this is an acceptable solution but I would expect any quality product to be under warranty within 24 months. Re: LED Strip Lighting failing 3Jan 04, 2014 12:33 pm if warranty is out I'd just get a higher quality replacement off ebay or something... you can get LED strip lighting (even stuff that you can change the colour of) for a few dollars a meter Slooowwwwly getting a Manhatten 35 in Middleton Grange Re: LED Strip Lighting failing 4Jan 06, 2014 5:13 pm Hi, Sounds like the strip lighting you have purchased is faulty. Generally, LED's should last between 30-50,000 hours, and if you're already seeing problems, this is an issue. Please be sure the driver you are using is also made to suit your strip light. There are many different options if you decide to upgrade. Hope this has helped. An LED strip with an IP rating is essential for the kitchen area, as it can get quite damp, especially when cooking and washing up. We have several high end brands for sale that will avoid issues you may be facing. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need more help.
