Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 May 03, 2008 9:19 am I guess I haven't quite gotten over some aspects of our last house. I still like these lights and would be happy to have something like them in the new house. They were fluro's We will have some jarrah trims ( yes exactly just like in the picture) in our new house so the "wood" trimmed lights would look nice. Has anyone seen anything like these for sale? Or can anyone suggest a newer/ more modern alternative. We still want an oyster style light.
They are hexagonal light fittings with a wood look trim and have small line of brass/gold running midway through the wood look trim. The screw fittings were also gold/brass toned. We had sourced some of these fittings for another customer about 2 years ago. To be quite honest, this fitting was part of the common builders range in the mid 90's, and it was so hard to locate them. I will check with my sources next week, and try and track them down for you ... but no promises! the lights 3May 03, 2008 10:42 am thanks
Mica Hubby screwed up his face when I told him I'd posted this. But i still like them. We actually bought ours from a lighting shop. But then we are talking around 18-19 years ago. Interesting that you'd said they were common builders range there. here i never saw them in display houses etc. But then once we'd built we didn't spend a lot of time in display homes so perhaps we missed them. One of our neighbours had one in their lounge room but I never met anyone else with them. ( they bought theirs from a lighting shop as well) We had 4 of them through our main living /family room area. They provided a lot of light. I remember there was a smaller version as well and we thought they looked terrible. I think they worked in our place because we had 4 jarrah trimed half height walls, jarrah trim recessed cupboard handles in our kitchen and a few pieces of furniture in similar tonings. I was almost tempted to go for the jarrah cupboard trims again but they have dated and hubby kept pointing out some tiles when we were bathroom tile hunting that he liked and that reminded him of our slate floors. Not this time though. We are going copenhagen cork flooring this time however we are having the jarrah trim on several half height walls again. I really like the look (don't care if it's dated) and we found it was really practical. I am trying to figure out how to tie in the flooring, jarrah trims to the rest of the house colours. Hence my query about the lights. Something tells me it will be more sensible to go for something simpler with a cleaner line. I just hope the jarrah still looks good. Hence my query about the lights. There are so many lighting options, that you will be sure to find something. I will keep watching this thread. Help is not far away! No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11569 |
