Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jul 31, 2013 8:26 pm Hi all! How do I work out best size fitting for a certain room? Is there some art of formula? Trying to source lights for most rooms, entry, kitchen, bedrooms, living etc Cheers Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Dimensions to suit room 2Aug 12, 2013 1:28 am Without anymore information, best I can advise is it depends on what you're trying to do with the room whether lighting it up like christmas or more for ambience. It'll also depend on the type of fixtures you're going to go with. Re: Dimensions to suit room 3Jan 08, 2014 4:47 pm Hi, Being an electrician by trade, i can only advise on what the general placement of lights should be. For example, if you had a 4x4m room I would recommend between 4-6 lights for that room. Meaning if you wanted to go for 4x lights, you would come in much further than what the "standard" length would be. This will help disperse the light towards the centre of the room, rather than focusing on the corners. Hence being effective where needed. If you decide to put 6x lights, you can focus a little more on the corners or "dark spots" of the room. I would recommend 6x lights, and a dimmer if you feel its too bright. The dimmer can help change a vibrant room to a relaxed room. I hope this has helped, and if there is anything else we can help with, please don't hesitate to contact us.
