We are going to have pendant lights in place of the standard batten light in the living room and also our bedroom. If our bedroom for example, has one standard batten fix, would it cost any extra to have the electrician install the pendant for us? If I understand your question correctly, then I guess it would depend on if you plan on having the builder's electrician that you are using install it, then yes it will cost you alot extra! The volume builders charge rediculous amounts for their electrical upgrades!! If you have a standard batten light in the centre of your room, and want to replace this after handover with a pendant fitting, then it will cost you whatever your electrician of choice charges per hour for labour as they will need to transfer the wiring over. Not sure where you are located, but if in Melbourne, PM me and I can provide you a great (and quite cheap) sparkys name who can do whatever you want after your home is completed. Cheers ! Re: pendant light installation 3Jan 08, 2014 5:48 pm Hi, in my experience, and that is 15 years in the electrical trade, it shouldn't cost you more than $50 to change over a standard batten to a pendant. If the pendant is in fact a chandelier, and would need to be hung by the rafters, this may in fact take more time, and hence an extra cost. Most likely $100 I hope this has helped Kind Regards, Kristin Lighting Expert Phone -1300 798 220 Email - service@golights.com.au Website - http://www.golights.com.au I need to replace the worn mohair seal on my sliding window, but I can't get access to the end to slide the old one out & push the new one in.
