Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jan 08, 2014 7:23 pm Would anyone like to suggest some possible tips for those buying lights online? Not suggesting that people promote their businesses but if anyone business or private wants to add some wise words /helpful hints this would be a great place to do so. I would suggest any businesses limit themselves to one post so that they don't seem to be using the thread to promote their own business. Re: Buying lighting online- things to be aware of 2Jan 08, 2014 10:49 pm Hi, Yes we can definitely help with some hints and tips on what to look out for. There are a few things to keep in mind when buying online. Firstly, be SURE the lights you are looking at comply with the Australian standards, and are all QC tested, because if they aren't, your insurance company will not cover you if they aren't signed off with the compliance certificates to suit. Secondly, its always a good idea to stick with reputable companies that are Australian owned and operated. Important because support and advice will always be there if you need it. You can't put a price on customer service, especially when it comes to warranty issues and technical advice. Lastly, choose a company who have QUALIFIED electricians and lighting designers who can help plot out your lighting plan, and give great suggestions on colours, and lumen output (brightness) for particular rooms. This advice is priceless, as some people make the mistake of buying to little or too many lights for particular rooms and areas without the proper advice. I hope this helps guys. Check what the spec says they are made out of, should read 316, 304 or marine grade stainless steel. Avoid anything described as "stainless steel look" or as just plain "stainless steel".
