Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 May 19, 2013 10:41 pm Just saw this product online, anyone got one or something similar? I have never seen it before, are they bright enough compare to original tungsten light? I'm going to replace the ones in my garage if they're bright enough. http://www.primaluce.com.au/t8-led-tube-light-by-melec-lighting-t811/ Re: LED tube light for garage 2May 21, 2013 8:53 am They do put less light on the ceiling than a T5 due to their design, but a good quality product should give you similar lux on working areas (assuming thats not the roof They have been available for quite some time and in recent times have become quite affordable. Re: LED tube light for garage 3Sep 04, 2015 2:40 pm Ages ago I bought an Aldi LED tube, but when I got it home was too short for the fittings I had. When we moved house there was the right sized fitting in the garage so I replaced a flouro tube. I'd say the light output is pretty much the same. What I like about it is that instead of waiting for the other flouro's to come on (two sets) the LED is instantly on so I can be half way across the garage while they are still flickering to life. Probably should replace the others too so they come on quicker, but they still work fine for now. Hope Aldi get some more in (but longer!) Re: LED tube light for garage 4Sep 08, 2015 10:06 pm LED T5 or T8 tubes are what we in the lighting engineering profession call "a complete waste of money". There is no business case for replacing a fluorescent tube with an LED tube, as a fluorescent tube is already quite efficient. A typical 36 watt 1200mm T8 fluorescent tube emits around 3350 lumens. A typical 18 watt T8 LED tube only uses half the power, but also only emits around 1800 lumens. So you will save energy, but you'll drop nearly half the light level, or at least a third on the workplane. You'll also spend a lot more buying LED tubes compared to a good quality fluorescent tube. Both have a rated life of around 20,000 hours. If you're looking for LED lights, go with a luminaire that has been specifically designed for LEDs and has a proper driver, LED chipset or module, and good heat sink. Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
