Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design Re: GU10 vs MR16 21May 29, 2013 9:06 am yes you would need an assembly regardless of MR16/GU10 for LIFX. Re: GU10 vs MR16 23Jun 03, 2013 10:15 pm The specs look solid, and provided they are spaced well you would be on the right track as far as that ceiling height goes. However it must be said that buying a reputable brand, from a reputable retailer, to ensure that the advertised specs are accurate. We have many consumers that end up at our door with horror stories of buying lights, from random sellers on eBay and other marketplaces, only to have them not perform they way they should. Im looking at purschaisng 40 x downlight kits for our new home and I came across those lights on this site @ $24.99. Can you tell me if these are reliable? I notice you are service manager for Go Lights, do you have anything similar you can offer?? http://www.lights2you.com.au/downlights.html 10w LED Downlight / 240v Chip on Board (COB) Beam 60degrees Warm White 550lm Re: GU10 vs MR16 25Jun 05, 2013 11:25 am Ok winner, I had a look at the kit they were going to install in my house, they are these ones: http://www.pierlite.com/au/33558/starburst-eco They have the regular flex and plug at the end of it, so should be the 413QC in the ceiling. I'm just checking to see whether they are the 70mm Fixed vs the 92mm Gimble ones. Either way, there should be a GU10 housing that will fit in the 70mm or 92mm hole right? (this one looks like a 70mm housing: http://www.solar360.com.au/index.php?ac ... t_id=16925) On a related note - I noticed these lights are dimmable, might consider getting some dimmable lights switches installed - though I don't think they'll be compatible with the LIFX bulb housing (which are dimmable, but via software)... so I'll have to work out where they should go. Re: GU10 vs MR16 26Jun 06, 2013 1:23 pm That starburst fixture is going to be much brighter than any of the LIFX products. You are downgrading the output fairly significantly to cater for LIFX. That said all you need to specify is a gu10 suitable housing. Whether you want 90mm or 70mm should be your choice. Re: GU10 vs MR16 28Jun 11, 2013 9:16 am I cant comment exactly on the LIFX product but I know some of these RGBW chips dont utilise their full power output on all colors. It is possible to have 3000k as the highest power draw color though. Its something you will have to check out. Re: GU10 vs MR16 29Jun 11, 2013 4:48 pm Most GU10 are hard wired compared to The transformer version with MR16. Another issue with kit downlights is that if you happen to need to replace it a few years down the track, you may not be able to get one with the same frame fitting. You will need to change the whole set to make it look the same. Re: GU10 vs MR16 30Nov 19, 2013 12:02 pm My builder installed all batten holders for my newly built home, and I will need to install LED downlights myself. Which downlight product does any of you sugguest. I can see there are two types in the market, one once installed, if any faulty, only need to change globes (GU10 or MR16), another type is much larger beam angle, but usually need to change whole unit. For a newly built house, which one I should go? 8Homes D.Seven Initial Deposite: 15/12/2012 Land Purchased: 26/01/2013 Builder Contract: 19/04/2013 Settled: 29/05/2013 Site Starts: 19/07/2013 LockUp: 21/09/2013 Fixing: 26/09/2013 Re: GU10 vs MR16 31Dec 08, 2013 1:57 pm In my previous build I used GU10s - I was forever changing globes - I've found the new MR16 lights (same quality and price point) to be far more reliable - still changing globes of course, but not to the same extent. Not sure if it is just my experience or not, but thought I would share... Couldn't see myself going back to GU10s...
