I'm not fantastic at this stuff, one downside I can think of though, is because there is a visible line at the top holding the pendants, your eye will be drawn to that short line and possibly make the hallway seem shorter than it looks? If you know what I mean? Otherwise, as poster above suggests, these work better over dining tables and kitchen benches, where a lower hanging pendant is desirable. They shortened the cord length slightly so they didn't hang too far down.
