Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Sep 18, 2012 4:35 pm I've heard about the Victorian governments new energy efficiency scheme called VEET that is designed to reward energy efficient products. I was wondering what this actually means for LED downlights. Do the rebates they give make the lights a lot cheaper? Re: VEET - How much is it worth? 2Sep 19, 2012 10:03 am Unfortunately it seems currently the VIC scheme only considers a downlight to have a maximum of 39w. Which means if you replaced it with a 16w product the rebate is worked out on 23w of savings not the potential . I also believe the residential scheme is different to commercial, along with the rebate being much lower than other states the amount of hours 'on' calculated maxes out at 3000hrs per year (I could be wrong on this) the end result is approximately .8-1.0 credits (approx $12-$15) Compared to the NSW scheme (up to 6 credits) VIC got the raw end of the stick. Re: VEET - How much is it worth? 4Oct 01, 2012 9:45 am Only approved products, I say unreasonable because compared to the NSW scheme where I have seen rebates of over $100 per light (commercial) for our down light 12-15 dollars is hardly an incentive.
