Hi All,
Sorry if these are newbie questions, but after reading a number of posts on MR16, GU10, transformers, LED drivers, heat sinks and retrofits I have thoroughly confused myself. I am in the process on wanting to build a new home and was looking at getting some downlights installed as part of the build. Ideally I would like to go straight with LED but for upfront budget reasons I find this expensive and was considering CFL as they are cheaper.
My questions:
- If I deploy CFL downlights now can they be easily upgraded to LED later on?
- Is there a specific CFL downlight/fitting I should consider to make the upgrade to LED later on?
- If I upgrade to LED later how do heat sinks and drivers work , or is this considered a retrofit upgrade?
- Are there compromises made in upgrading to LED later rather than installed initially?
- How do dimmers work with CFLs and later with LEDs upgraded later on?
Appreciate any advice that can be offer.
Thanks Scott
