Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone is still using incandescent or halogen downlights???
We are currently building and trying to decide whether we go to LED downlights (at a big price) or stick with what we know and use incandescent and halogen.
There seems to be a lot of debate about LED - some say you can buy top of the line LED downlights for $10 - $20 where others say anything under $50 is rubbish. At $100 a downlight, it would seem that the reduced energy consumption would still take a long time to pay for itself, considering you can buy decent quality halogen downlight kits for $10 to $15.
Our concern with incandescent & halogen is that the globes seem to be getting harder to find and one day may be phased out completely. Having said that our current house is just over 3 years old now and have never blown a halogen yet, and only blown about 3 incandescents which are in the minor rooms, robes etc...
So the question is, are people still using these?? (and I'm talking about new builds, not pre existing homes).
