Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Apr 27, 2012 2:40 pm As the title suggests I am not sure about our lighting for our entry. I have always thought I'd have a pendant light here, but we ended up going with a flat roof & 2.74mtr ceiling height. So what I want to know is will we have enough room for a pendant light or will it look like you might hit your head. What is the maximum size pendant we should have (as in distence from ceiling to bottom of pendants) Also if anyone wants to share their entry pandants, particularly if you have 2.7mtr ceilings. Thanks in advance These are 2 of the pendants I liked Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ AND Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bec Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 2Apr 30, 2012 3:04 pm Wow, nice. Have you found your answer re what to have yet? Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 4Apr 30, 2012 11:24 pm I would suggest thinking twice about anything longer than 700mm that would take floor to pendant clearance to just 2m, so someone 6 foot would have 200mm from head to pendant! Perhaps you could discuss the issue with someone at your local lighting store such as beacon lighting, they usually have 'lighting consultants' they may help! I get the feeling there may be wiring rules as well well check and let you know what I find 2 Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 5May 01, 2012 6:26 am I only have 2.4 at my entry so went with a very small batten chandelier thing, http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/lighti ... ystal.html. Not this but you get the idea. Could you not do the wow pendant over the dining room table instead? If you had a double height entry then yep...go big, but you kinda don't and it might also block the flow from the front door sight wise??? Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 6May 02, 2012 2:13 pm Were having the same issue, we wanted a nice feature light at the entry but worried that it will close in the space and make the ceiling look lower than what it is. Perhaps blu-tack a lenght of string from the ceiling to work out what distance you feel comfortable with. Personally, I think 2m is too low, Im 182cm tall and although I know that Im not going to hit my head on it, it feels too closed in. Im aiming for 220 -230cm clearance Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 7May 02, 2012 2:18 pm Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 8May 02, 2012 3:41 pm Thanks Kiwi'for posting your pics, your light is lovely can I ask where you got it?? I'm thinking I'll have to go something similar or scrap altogether. Lunchtime & Stormjnr, I agree with you both completley. Everything I love seems to hang approx 700mm & I think that's just going to feel too low and look rediculous. Bec Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 9May 02, 2012 3:49 pm beacon lighting in castle hill. got it 18mths ago ...but they have different ones coming and going. prob better ones now!! i brought it back in my suitcase. I wanted a bit of sparkle (we dont use it much..we have a light on a picture that is our 'evening light' by the door etc) so I wanted something cheap, but looked good off, cos it isnt on, except if we are seeing people off the premises it sparkles in the sunlight and makes patterns. who would have thought.... good luck, show us what you find. Re: Question about Pendant Lights in Entry 10May 15, 2012 3:00 am I agree, I think for the smaller space something a little less long would be best. How about some of these?
