Anyone had any experience with the dimming of these?
They claim to be dimmable 0-100%, but after talking to some contractors and suppliers, apparently they only dim down to 80%
Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 3Apr 19, 2012 5:00 pm I bought a D900 as a trial and I found that it did a have a limit as to how far it would dim. It is less than 80%, but not as low as the LEDs I installed instead (which were half the price). I installed the D900 because I didn't want to waste a $120 light, but in a location where it doesn't need to dim. The light quality and brightness is very good, but I don't think it is worth $60 per fitting, dimming issues aside. *edit* For reference, my dimmers are Clipsal C-Bus leading edge. Paul Re: Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 4Apr 19, 2012 5:43 pm Sue W, haven't used any myself yet. What are you using and how low do they go? paulw11 I installed the D900 because I didn't want to waste a $120 light, but in a location where it doesn't need to dim. Or is it the $120 you mentioned before? How low do they go? Are we talking very soft mood lighting in a theatre dim? Are we talking very soft mood lighting in a theatre dim? Sorry, let me clarify - the LEDs I used were $60 each - about $60 less than the D900s. I didn't get Brightgreen D900s for $60 The ones I have go very dim, I am using them in a living/theatre room. Probably not quite as low as a halogen, but down to about 5-10% I would say. Good enough for mood lighting while watching an LCD TV. If I had a projector I would probably want to turn them off altogether. Paul Re: Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 8Jul 29, 2012 7:45 am i just installed the d900 curve.. and yes there is a limit in dimming.. i just knew about it after testing one... is this a fault or should we contact brightgreen? Re: Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 9Jul 29, 2012 1:04 pm I've got the D900's with the HPM push button dimmers. They don't dim down to 0% brightness, but I'm not sure what is the need for 0% - you may as well just switch it off? My guesstimate is that they are dimming to around 15-20%. What dimming system do you use? The lights are compatible with all dimmers, but I'm not sure if it is down to 0% for all. How far down do they dim, is the problem that they begin to flicker? I would only contact if the flicker with not much dimming. I haven't had any troubles with their lights but spoke to their customer service team about an inferior imitation product once and they were fantastic to deal with. Re: Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 12Aug 12, 2012 2:59 pm brightgreen is not compatible with clipsal dimmer.. it will only dim to 50 percent i guess... not enough for moodlight... they suggested to use a particular dimmer which can dim it to 0 percent... Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 13Aug 12, 2012 4:15 pm Hi Are you using a leading edge, trailing edge or universal dimmer? LEDs work best on trailing edge or universal dimmers. Can I ask how did you get these to work with the HPM push button dimmers - did you put a dummy load on the circuit? Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 17Aug 17, 2012 2:55 pm No idea to be honest, the sparky did it. Basically he's set up two way dimming, with these Hpm dimmers at each end of the room. Very happy with the result because I didn't think two way dimming was easy to implement. Re: Brightgreen D900's or D1000's 18Aug 28, 2012 10:19 am offshore Dude that reads like an advertorial. Are you involved with them? I think this was at me... Just a brightgreen fan after being made aware of them by a mate of mine who is an electrician. Had a bit of trouble after buying a light that was told was manufactured by Brightgreen but wasn't. If a Clipsal dimmer is not compatible what is the best dimmer to suit the D900's? I think my electrician fitted clipsal dimmers and the yonly dim to about 50% as well |
