I'm not sure I trust the claims of lifetimes used by these LED folks - they are usually extrapolated from laboratory data acquired under idealised conditions (temperature control etc). I do however agree that the Osram Parathom light output is low, relative to the Philips Master LED and Cree MR-C 10W globes - these cost about $20-30 more per light though.

I believe the Philips 10w is only a few lumens more (385??). 400lm is all you can expect from a retrofit aside from the BG 10w.
I would be surprised if the 700lm claim is true and at that price it would be tough to get 50,000hrs out of the driver.
You really do get what you pay for in the current LED market.
