My preferences are: Must close well so that bugs dont get in (as much as possible). Prefer round to square shaped. Can take CFLs (round globes) not the fluorescent tubes. Easy to open to replace bulbs. Doesn't have claw hooks or hooks that look like they will easily break. (Ive seen some at a friends place, and after 5 years, the claw hooks look flimsy, have lost their colour, and they have left scratch marks on the glass where they have been turned when opening them).
