Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Sep 02, 2011 11:22 am Hi guys, I am converting a bedroom in our house to a home salon. Looking for some sort of lighting to use in the beauty room so that when i am doing makeup, there won't be shadows like what downlights would give.. Can anyone recommend some sort of lighting that will help with this? Many thanks xx Re: Lights in a beauty room/salon 2Sep 02, 2011 1:33 pm Hi, we're going to use a fluoro in the vanity where the makeup generally goes on. They don't have to be ugly these days. The one we're probably goint to be using are adjustable so you can rotate them so you can make the light bounce off the mirror, off the wall or straight into the face for no shadows. http://www.maroondahlighting.com.au/?stg=356&view=356 Or http://www.maroondahlighting.com.au/?stg=354&view=354 Are the ones we're looking at. Have you used these type of lights before? My experience with fluoro's (well the old ones) is the lights tend to give abit of a washed/pastey feel, could be the colour globes/glass its in though. I'm after the lights where you look in a mirror and go, yep - i look hot! lol Whereas some other lights you think, holy crap, i look fez! whats up with my skin! Hmm so maybe it would be the combo of lightings and mirror.. Re: Lights in a beauty room/salon 5Jan 30, 2013 10:58 am How might led striplights work in a situation like this? The house we're buying has a cabinet/mirror that could have lighting around the edges (think theatre make-up room) Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Re: Lights in a beauty room/salon 6Jan 30, 2013 1:24 pm We did some LED strip around Vanity's for a salon, purely decorative though as I dont think we could achieve enough light output without incurring glare. If you could get some frosted glass or channel to stop the glare it should work though. So I'm just reading up on this ecosystem of lights. I'm planning on putting deck lights along the outside edge of a large deck. Will need about 3 packs (18 lights) plus… 0 23021 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
