Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Aug 18, 2011 1:50 pm Hi All, We are almost ready to start building, we have a block, and a design... and are just waiting for settlement. We think our design is great, but one thing that I know I'm going to get annoyed with is the lighting in the entry void! To give you an idea, you walk in the front door immediately into a double height void area, with stairs to one side up to the first floor. The display home just has downlights there. It looks OK, but then I wondered how would you change the lights if the bulb blew? That ceiling is double height, and no way I'm getting on a ladder that high. We thought of a chandelier, but it would have to be pretty modern, and I think you'd get the same problem with what to do when a bulb blows. My other thoughts are maybe to mount lights to the walls at either that shine up, about 3m off the ground. That would work from an access point of view, but I'm yet to find anything that looks cool enough Suggestions are welcome! EDIT: Picture of the Display Home below. Re: Help me light the void!! 2Aug 18, 2011 2:34 pm Trikcy ... wall lights would be the go ... I've seen some really cool "art deco" ones on here somewhere ... Re: Help me light the void!! 3Aug 18, 2011 2:40 pm Step lights would be pretty nice. Wall lights on both sides of the front door, high up, would look good too.
