The intermediate and normal switch look completely different in their mechanisms so I dont think you could just retrofit it as simply as you were hoping If you do find a way, let me know though! Re: Cipsal Saturn intermediate switch mechanism 2Jul 14, 2011 5:07 pm Can I ask what you mean by intermediate mechanism? What is different about your switch in the hallway vs elsewhere where you are happy? We are planning to use the saturn range in our extension and maybe throughout. Re: Cipsal Saturn intermediate switch mechanism 3Jul 14, 2011 10:56 pm Hi The intermediate switch enables you to control a lighting circuit from any number of locations (top of stairs, bottom of stairs, half way up the stairs...) Unfortunately the Saturn intermediate switches work differently to traditional multi-way switching. The intermediate switch sends a pulse of current down the wires to a switching relay which then turns the light on/off. The standard Saturn switch can 'leak' a bit of power through the bulb to power the LED even when the bulb is off. As the intermediate switch isn't connected directly to the bulb, it can't do this. Clipsal could have added an LED and required it to be powered directly, but for whatever reason they haven't done this. If you install the Clipsal C-Bus system (Quite a few $) then you can have LEDs on all of the switches, no matter where they are. Paul Re: Cipsal Saturn intermediate switch mechanism 4Jul 14, 2011 11:01 pm bugger.... that is soooooo annoying as we intend to have at least 3 switches set up like this.....hmmm any other manufactures/alternatives out there? Re: Cipsal Saturn intermediate switch mechanism 5Jul 15, 2011 10:45 am I have a couple that are on dual switches in different locations and they haven't put in an intermediate switch, just normal ones. The hallway one has never had any problem with the leds lighting up when off, the one at the entrance occasionally has a slight glow, but not all the time and it is so faint it is hardly noticeable. Re: Cipsal Saturn intermediate switch mechanism 6Jul 27, 2011 4:49 pm The LED's are wired into the terminals on the back. Wiring config is either light on led on, light off led on, or constant. I'm not a sparkie but I think to get it to work in a three way set up you'd have to run another cable to each switch location (purely for the led) and have it joined to the lighting circuit. Light on led on. Alternatively if you want light off led on, it wouldn't get much harder with a relay circuit for switching. Sounds like a lot of stuffing around to make some leds glow though!
