Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 May 21, 2011 9:22 am They seem to be a US site that ships to Aust. http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Lighting-Ceiling-Fans/300/cat.html?keywords=light&searchtype=Header I am mostly looking at Pendant lights that would need to be hard wired, however there is a disclaimer on the site that says; "PLEASE NOTE: USE ONLY WITH PROPER OUTLET ADAPTORS AND VOLTAGE CONVERTERS FOR YOUR AREA. WITHOUT THE PROPER ADAPTOR AND VOLTAGE CONVERTER, PLUGGING THIS PRODUCT INTO AN OUTLET WITH VOLTAGE IN EXCESS OF 110-120 VOLTS MAY RESULT IN FIRE AND/OR INJURY." So would I just need a conversion adapter if I wanted to hang a pendant light or will there be possible complex wiring involved? Also not sure about the bulbs, could I possibly use normal bulbs if the voltage is changed? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Anyone bought lights from Overstock.com? 2May 21, 2011 12:32 pm Wouldn't you need an eleco to rewire them? Lamps depending on their voltage can sometimes be plugged into a converter as can some appliances. For instance I have a computer from the US that has been working since Feb 2004 plugged into a converter from Tandy. But I dont think you could do the same for an actual light fitting - check with an eleco. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Anyone bought lights from Overstock.com? 3May 21, 2011 3:58 pm Some lovely lights available on Overstock.com, but probably better to buy lights that conforms to Australian voltage. I don't know why they don't offer 230-240v if they're selling their products to Australian and European countries etc. Maybe it's not hard to change, hope an electrician will chime in. I recently bought lights from Nostraforma.com, the packaging was excellent, they shipped 5 lights in 3 separate boxes, quality is very good. Being from Europe their lights are compatible with Australian voltage. I also bought some lights from an Ebay shop in China/Hong Kong, they provide the lights in 110v or 240v. Customer service was great and my lights are also being shipped in separate boxes, haven't receive them yet so can't comment on the quality, but not expecting them to be in the same league as the Nostraforma lights. Also bought some outdoor lights from Buyster, quality is pretty good but as expected all made in China as well. Shipping was quick and the lights were shipped in separate boxes. Yeah I gather if they are shipping to Australia, it must be to Aust. standards. But the disclaimer kind of got me wondering. I hope it would be an easy job for a sparky to convert. I would hate to buy one only to find that it cant be hooked up. gelatiii I recently bought lights from Nostraforma.com, the packaging was excellent, they shipped 5 lights in 3 separate boxes, quality is very good.
