Re: Which light do you prefer? 3Apr 12, 2011 7:26 pm Square back because it makes the light protrude further from the wall, which will hopefully prevent too many irregularities in the wall (if rendered/bagged) from being highlighted We've seen too many of these up/down lights on rendered/bagged walls. Firstly, it doesn't look good at night & secondly they don't provide much lighting - only effect. I too think the effect is nicer with the square one since you get some projection so the light doesn't look like it's splashed over like a wide beam. I think it should create that small "waist" in the middle But what about the ugly big screws? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Can someone show us some pics of either type? The DH already "picked" the first one My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Which light do you prefer? 13Apr 14, 2011 10:08 pm I know the decision is made but just putting another vote for square. a square one means the base bit is less likely to show behind the actual light, as the straight up and down sides will run parallel to the sides of the up/down light shaft itself. I think the aim is not to be able to see the base from the front for the most pleasing look. Re: Which light do you prefer? 17Apr 15, 2011 7:41 am Hey, thanks guys Casa, I like that one. What's its name (and manufacturer)? Is it 316 grade? We're getting just the 304, hope it won't go all rusty in a few years Oh, and how long is that one? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Which light do you prefer? 18Apr 15, 2011 8:39 am It's the Telbix Riva2 and it's 160 mm high. (See http://www.telbix.com/Images/Riva%20&%20Jenkin.pdf). Unfortunately it's only 304 grade stainless steel. Oh and it looks better than the picture since the horizontal lines where the top and bottom screw on are almost invisible in my case. I am nearing the PCI and I am thinking of having three of these on my facade. Can you please give your suggestions on how it would look on my facade. Have a look at my thread and you would see the pictures of facade completed with rendering on it. Re: Which light do you prefer? 20Apr 15, 2011 9:18 am Thanks Casa, I saw that in a box at a local light shop, but these guys are hopeless at keeping their shop neat and informative, including the naming and pricing of their goods so you have to pull them by the sleeve and ask for almost every light the name and cost , waste of my time as they need to go into their books for each of them and that takes 5 minutes!! So, can you tell me what price did you get it for? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
