Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Feb 02, 2011 7:10 pm Hi, for my renovation we're getting a new kitchen/dining/lounge room where i'm thinking of putting these lights: http://www.lightingillusions.com.au/sho ... r-80751-13 The larger style CFLs that take a 20W dimmable CFL globe. We're getting all new insulation laid as well. Can the insulation bats be laid directly on top of these lights? ie. To give me a complete seal? Or is some sort of heat-shield/dome thingy needed? Chris. Re: CFL downlights and insulation 2Feb 02, 2011 8:37 pm I asked (again) if these lights required a heat shield the other day and was informed no they aren't required as these lights don't generate the heat like the non-energy efficient ones do. I've asked this a few times at different places and always been given the same answer ... so I'd hope it's correct. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
