Wife and I love these "Chloe" lights from Mica lighting Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also love the "Paris" light from Beacon: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We love the black, and think it will go well with our other house colours (Dulux Grand Piano (half-strength) for the walls, concrete lappazo tiles for the floor) but are worried about how much an impact the black shade makes on the overall brightness in the room. Our plan is to put two "Chloe" lights in the main family area, and a "Paris" pendant hanging low over the dining table. There will be five downlights in the dropped ceiling over the kitchen. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The chloe lights have 3 globes each, will it be enough to light the family area ? Or is it better to get the silver coloured lights instead and get more lighting to the rooms ? Has anyone had a similar experience ? thanks Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. Re: Black or Silver pendants for living area 2Jan 01, 2011 9:04 pm I got quotes for the Chloe some time back for our living area. I'm pretty sure it is set up for 60W conventional bulbs which lets you put in very bright energy-saving bulbs. I'm pretty sure you can get the Chloe in a 5-bulb too - although it is pretty $$$$! Your plan looks very similar to my Mum & Dad's last house. They only had three baton fixtures through the family & meals rooms and a fluoro in the kitchen - that was enough to watch tv by, but not enough to read with. I'd say the 3-bulb Chloe's would be plenty. Re: Black or Silver pendants for living area 3Jan 01, 2011 9:08 pm cool, thanks for that. Do you think there is much difference between the silver of black drums in terms of brightness ? The two lights in the family area are on dimmers, so maybe I could get 3 bright energy-savers and dim them down when i dont want to read ? Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. Re: Black or Silver pendants for living area 4Jan 03, 2011 6:35 pm Hi, We have the Paris in our bathroom. Beacon lighting didn't recommend then in kitchen/dining situation due to grease etc. We have the white which I love but the black is very nice too Re: Black or Silver pendants for living area 5Jan 03, 2011 6:55 pm I just got the Paris in white over the dining table and there is more than enough light for dining. I have seen the black in a shop and it's a little dimmer but I think for dining it would be good, personally I hate bright light over the dining table. Re: Black or Silver pendants for living area <update> 6Jan 03, 2011 10:19 pm thanks for that, I think we will go for the black ! Changing tack slightly, what heights do people have their hanging lights at above the ground ? We have a 3m (up from 2.7m standard) coffered ceiling in our entry hall (90cm wide coffered section for a 1.5m wide entry hall that is 4m long) and want to put a nice chandelier up there. Unfortunately, most of them seem to be ~50cm high + another 50cm of chain...leaving only 2m left for people to walk under. Is this a normal "height" for these chadaliers, how "high" do other people put theirs ? any help is appreciated. Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh..
