Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 2Dec 29, 2010 6:55 pm I am having one in the walk in pantry. another one in the walk through robe (in between the ensuite and master bedroom) as there isnt a window in there. Do you think this sounds like a good idea. Am also thinking of one in the foyer and another one upstairs obove the staircase landing. The only thing is, do we make the staircase lights light up or on top floor? Would love to hear your opinions and suggestions. Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 5Dec 29, 2010 7:23 pm Only out the front of the house. I have a door activated light for the pantry but I do wish I had thought to put a powerpoint in the kids bedrooms hallway for a sensor nightlight which would probably be enough to light the toilet at night anyway. So maybe just put those near the top and the bottom of the staircase. The battery powered one I have in the bathroom now doesn't go on during the day, it's like outdoor sensor lights and darkness activated. I do wish I had a nightlight (not full brightness) motion sensor hard wired toilet light rather than the battery powered one. Very good for kids. Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 6Dec 29, 2010 7:32 pm We put one in the walk up robe which works really well. I don't know that I would use one anywhere else The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 7Dec 29, 2010 7:36 pm Thank you for your input. All of ours will only go on if it is dark, we can also program how dark it has to be before the lght goes on. Also ouRs can be deactivated at any time. Thanks for pointing out the kids toilet route. Hadn't thought of that. Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 8Dec 29, 2010 8:05 pm We used to have a sensor type movement activated light on our porch at our last house. It worked really well. DH wanted to do the same. So we left a normal ceiling fitting there instead of the wall light I wanted. By the time we moved in he decided he didn't want one. Not impressed as it would leave a hole to be patched in the eaves to shift the light to a wall one now. Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 9Dec 29, 2010 10:08 pm When I build I will have sensor lights all over the place including ones on sunset timers for hall way lights and with dimmers inplace so they arn't so bright at night Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 10Dec 29, 2010 11:42 pm We have 4 in total, all externals. One in front of the garage which will activate the facade lights, one on the porch so we can easily recognize the person buzzing the doorbell, one under the eaves where our bins are and one just outside the laundry door which will illuminate the clothesline area. Re: Where did/would you put sensor lights? 11Dec 30, 2010 9:09 am Internally only in the pantry. Painter hated it as it wouldn't stay on when he was in there trying to paint Externally we have one out the front for the uplights, and one on a light down the side, but I can't remember how to set it to be on sensor!
