Some people don't have time to do the job right the first time, but seem to have plenty of time to fix their mistakes. Meant to say that... if you're not altering the wiring you can do whatever you like in terms of hanging lights. But if you're fitting pendants or other light fittings that require you to work with the wiring, you will not be covered if anything goes wrong, as you wont have a compliance certificate (or whatever electricians issues... ) Re: DIY light fitting 5Dec 06, 2010 3:20 pm Hi.... Yes, what everyone else said. We are building the Clarendon Ballina 43 atm and we want to put ALOT of lighting in our new home but the prices are sooooo ridiculous. As my husband is an eletrical technician, it seems so silly to pay anyone else to do the extras. We've found out that anything we do will void our warranty on all electricals.
