Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Aug 18, 2010 7:18 pm I did our plan for the downstairs bathroom vanity last night, but now I am totally perplexed about what to do about lights. Here's the drill: Bathroom is rectangular, with the door on one short side. Ceiling height across the first metre of the width of the room is 2700mm, but for the rest of the space, it goes all the way up to the curved roof on our upper story. Noice, huh? We're going to put an (ever so elegant) indoor clothes line up there with a pulley system. The vanity is in a corner, under the void. It's a simple drawers, cupboard, basin type affair. And I want to put a row of mirrored cabinets (Ikea) above them. But herein ****** the dilemma. There's nowhere to affix lights above the mirrors! I thought for a minute that I could get some of those groovy ones that stick out at right angles to the wall. But the ones I've seen angle down slightly, so I'd impede the opening of the cabinets (or need to have them protruding up on a most unbecoming angle). Ditto spots on the wall for the end cabinet, plus they would bounce off the mirrors rather than light them. If we put lights up in the void, we'd end up with shadows from the clothes line. Anyone got any ideas? The sparkie is doing the rough in in the morning. e. Re: A tricky spot to light -- help!?? 2Aug 29, 2010 9:33 pm Hi Elizabeth. It is hard to imagine what your room looks like. However, could a combination of wall mounted lights for general lighting, and LED lights under the overhead shelves, work? Alternatively, maybe you need a light mounted on an arm that can be pushed back against the wall while the washing is hung, and then pulled back into position afterwards? 6 4346 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
