Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jun 25, 2010 8:20 pm The electrician has just bombarded me with what I want in my new house. I told him to mix the lighting up, that means batten, down lights and other stuff. He also told me the builder has put the posi floor beams closer to each other for strength, this means that normal downlights cannot be fitted because they don't have the wood clearance around them anymore. Great what the hell does that mean I can't have downlights? I have a meals/kitchen room which is 7 X10m yeah I will have 3 pendants hanging over the kitchen counter but what about the rest of the room. Can someone please give me some options. I currently have those fluoro dairy whip bulbs in my rented house and I can't stand this sort of lighting. Electrician said no halogen downlights, led not lighting efficient enough and pricey, so whats left? I cant see your builder putting posi closer than 450 centres. So that will give you about 200mm either side of light. Together with heat can there should be no issues.
