Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Jun 18, 2010 11:20 pm Hi all,
Here is our elec plan and would love to get your feedback on it. - We're particularly concern about external lights, do we have enough? How many junction box should be provided for future garden lights? - too many/little downlights (we are thinking of having batons installed where d/l will go and will get sparkies to do them after h/o) - intercom pre-wiring (not shown in the plan) but when i searched on the forum it seems like diff systems use diff wiring am I right? So what's the best way to approach this? Builder charging $1600 for colour handsfree Kocom and $1000 for additional monitor, is this reasonable? Intercom we're after is one that can also open the pedestrain gate and main gate (is there such a thing & how much am I looking at (system and installation)? - other comments are more than welcome Thanks in advance guys. layout removed now Re: Electrical plan, need advise and suggestion 2Jun 19, 2010 7:44 am Every builder I’ve dealt with uses own symbols. It’s a bit hard to guess all details. But here’s my 5cents of worth: • Motion sensor light outside each entry door. Handy not just for security, but for those times when you walking with your hands full. • Have dimmer switch for kitchen’s 3 over-the-bench-top lights and may be for living room and study room. Useful when you want to tone down light when entertaining or just having a quiet evening. • Do not see your phone connection... It’s wise to have few points – kitchen, main bedroom, study. • I personally would use a single ceiling light in bedrooms. You don’t need a day light in bedrooms. Calmer light puts you off to sleep. • Not sure where your study is. But extra power points are always handy there. • In home theatre & play room you want your antenna/Foxtel and few power points (one can not have too much power points here!) to be where the TV goes, so wires are hidden. • Is your staircase light switch 2-way? You Re: Electrical plan, need advise and suggestion 3Jun 19, 2010 12:09 pm hi leslia thank you for the feedback. i have added the legend as you are right, it will be more helpful to have the legend yes we have put motion sensor that cover entry door (the sensor is shown in another diagram) which we decided not to put as too many diagram can be distracting and hence we show the lighting and power points only. you have good points dimmer we plan to do it after handover (this is what we want to do with the builder only) we plan to do dimmer and convert most light points to halogen downlights. phone connection - we put it in home theather which we will turn into study/ office. we will watch tv in rumpus in the first floor instead. we are given 2 points free. one is in the home theather and one to be near the alarm system so we can connect back to base. why only one as we use wireless phone at home and we want to connect the phone and the fax in the study room. our wireless phone just need to connect to one phone point and we can place a few phones around the house (not sure if my explanation make any sense ) yes stair case is two way switch we also have put (2 x 40mm Conduits with Draw Wire ONLY for Future Plasma/LCD) where all TV is located, as all TV will be mounted on the wall and the wires will be hidden behind the wall and terminate just behind the cabinet about 40mm from the floor. rough drawing below Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11569 I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me. I have a few rendered interior walls, the surface condition is hardly flat. I can see all the bumps… 0 7950 |
